Date Night

Blush + Black…swoon. I love all black for a date night any time of the year and blush accents are perfect for the warming weather and spring and summer months. It is such a simple, yet elegant look that can be dolled up or appropriate for a relaxing evening. And can we talk about this watch. It’s under $100 and I may just have to scoop it.

On another note, mom and I got back from New York super late Sunday night. Yesterday was such a drag, but totally worth it. We had just the best time and I will share all about what we did later this week. I would say that mostly we shopped literally until we dropped. We did so many fun things though and had a very memorable mother-daughter trip. Luckily, I have another short week this week because of the Easter holiday. Adam took off Friday as well and we’re headed out of town for the weekend. I really don’t know if I could have made it five full days this week! It is so true…I always need a vacation from my vacation! New York will do that to you, though. It is so hustle and bustle and I am constantly on the go. We wear Garmin watches that keep track of our steps and we walked over ten miles each day. At least this coming weekend will be more relaxing. And I love to travel but there’s nothing like that first night back in your own bed! With my hubby and sweet girls of course 🙂

A Weekend In New York – Pack List

nyc

This week. It’s been packed full and so so busy but my sweet adorable mother and I are finally wheels up to NYC for a looong overdue girls weekend. I don’t think we’ve been on a trip just the two of us since my college graduation trip, where she took me to NY! 🙂 It was such a quick, impromptu trip and much needed for both of us. I have planned such fun, girly things for us to do and I know we’ll have a great time. She picked the hotel, and it’s one she’s ALWAYS wanted to stay at. She booked so quickly after I recommended this trip and I think it’s because she really wanted to stay there! We both love the sights and sounds of New York and I also have some things planned that she’s never done before. I will miss Adam and my sweet girls but this lady needs a weekend getaway (and I know my momma does too!)!

That being said, I struggle packing for a short trip. It’s harder than packing for a full week for me. Carry on or check? How many outfits do I need? Will it rain? This time I’ve definitely decided to check because I know shopping will be involved. And I don’t want to not be able to bring all my good back home with me! So, If you’re headed to NYC in the spring, your weather could literally be all over the place. I wanted to pack layers to accommodate warmer day temps and cooler night temps, and plan for pop up showers as well. Here’s a few must-haves that I recommend:

A high quality, fashionable Trench Coat is a must-have in NYC in April. Showers pop up all over the place but I also want to look fashionable strolling down 5th Ave.

I think Neutral Booties are just the most comfortable shoes. They’re easy to pack and can be dressed up or down for a seamless day to night look – perfect for travel!

Who doesn’t need buckets of Moisturizer when they travel?!

I know that New York can get super windy, especially during Happy Hour on those roof tops bars. So I always like to have a Hat to keep my hair in check.

You never know when something will just jump out at you in the city that you have to buy or when there will be a must-snap photo op. A  Crossbody is the perfect carry all to make sure your wallet and camera are just a quick, easy grab away.

A great way to stay comfortable on a flight and have an easy way to keep warm when the sun goes down is a day-to-night Oversized Scarf.

The only way for me to save time by not having to do my hair so I have more time to vacation, is a good, reliable Dry Shampoo.

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

Pink is my favorite color and if you don’t like it, I advise you to skip this post! And you know what they say…On Wednesdays we wear pink!  I am SOOO glad that it’s Wednesday. I just feel like come Wednesday, I am making progress through the work week and am starting to feel like I can get excited about the weekend.

But without further ado, in honor of it being Wednesday, I wanted to share some items that are out right now and that I have my eye on…and that are pink, of course:

pink

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 9

New York & Company Handbag – I love New York and Co bags. I think they come out with great handbags and they are very well made. The last one I purchased from there is still going strong through my rotation. However, I’ve really had my eye on this one. It is such a great dupe for this Prada bag but is super affordable. It’s the perfect shade of pink for spring and summer, but I can really see myself using this bag year around.

NARSissist Unfiltered Cheek Palette – The colors in this palette just spoke to me. They are so perfect for spring and summer and have a variety for anytime of day, any look you want.

Tahari Media Sandal – These shoes need little explanation. I love the neutral blush color, block heal, and zipper up the side.

Ryan-Fit Pink Lightweight Wool Slim-Straight Pant – I live for a pink pant in the spring. I have a light blush shade in this cut already but I am keeping my eye on this bright color to add to my closet. I am not afraid to wear pink and I can see these as a closet staple.

Halogen Square Silk Scarf – The neck scarf trend, I am liking it. This little number is such a cute accessory that can add so much flair to an otherwise simple outfit.

MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick : Pink Real Hard – Okay, the new Wet n Wild liquid lips (Liquid Catsuit) are to die for. They are super cheap and available at nearly all drugstores, and literally they last ALL. DAY.

Active Twofer Sports Bra Top – With the warm weather coming at us in full force, I need to make sure that my hot weather running clothes are up to par. I love how this top has a built in sports bra and an open back. It seems like the perfect piece for staying cool during a summer workout.

Aromatherapy Body Wash & Foam Bath : Sandalwood Rose – I love the Bath and Body Works stress relief line and this rose scented bubble bath is next on my list.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh : Kiss Edition – Who doesn’t love Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume and I’m thinking this limited edition scent is a must have.

I have been getting super bummed about the weather lately. Not that I don’t like spring, but I loveee winter weather. So I was super happy to head north to Asheville this past weekend and experience which I grudgingly believe will be the last little chill of the season. I was so happy to be able to bundle up and prance around in my puffer and scarf. Though I am starting to transition my closet to spring, I needed one last round of winter apparel.

It was such a gorgeous day and Adam and I had the best time in Asheville. He’s been wanting to go for a while now so we just hopped in the car and took a ride. The drive is beautiful and it really is such a short trip. I think we’ll probably go up there more for a weekend afternoon getaway. We ate lunch at Pack’s Tavern which was delicious, and then I took Adam to Wicked Weed for a local brew. There was a college basketball tournament in town so it was a bit crowded but nothing was too bad; we didn’t have to wait anywhere to sit down.

This week is going to be a busy one. We’re heading out of town again this weekend but I am excited about it! Soooo, on another note, I have been considering the New York Marathon again this year. (AHH, giving you time to yell at me!!) I know I said no no no no way no how this year but…hear me out. Meb has announced that his career finale 26.2 will be this November in NY. How cool would it be to also be there?!?! I have a lot to think about though. And I promise I will NOT sign up impulsively! Haha It will be a well thought out decision when it’s made and I’ll probably blog about it!

Pink Off The Shoulder

Blouse – Dillards – I also really like this one and this one

Jeans – Old Navy

Shoes – New York And Company – Similar styles herehere, and here

Sunglasses – Forever 21

Wallet – Adrienne Vittadini

Earrings – Mine are handmade but I really like these and these

I have been living for white jeans lately and with the weather this past weekend, I thought this top was just the perfect addition. The off the shoulder and the color complimented the weather so well. I also love the bell sleeves. I also have really been liking Old Navy jeans lately. They’re so affordable but they’re pretty good quality and have a lot of style variety. Let’s also please take a moment for the shoes. I bought them last year but they are just the cutest spring heels.

YAY for Wednesday! This week has not been too crazy. But I feel like it is kind of slow. Adam was off Monday, lucky. But we’ve just been chugging along. My parents and cousin are coming up Friday afternoon for the race Saturday. I’m so excited. I really hope we all have just a great run. That being said, I’ve been tapering a bit this week because I want fresh legs Saturday morning. I had a really hard, but strong run this past weekend and hopefully that means I persevered through a tough one and will be more than prepared to conquer the half. I’m also trying to figure out where we’re going to eat and what fun thing we’ll get to do while they’re in town. They haven’t visited in a while so it should be a great weekend!
