April Ipsy Bag

Okayy so this post did not automatically upload yesterday afternoon like it was supposed to and I went to bed at 7pm and didn’t notice. Oops! I’ll also have my Friday blog posted at normal time this afternoon. This month’s bag was SO GOOD! I am happy with everything. I did not love the makeup bag itself, but the goodies were great! I really think that reviewing each month’s bag helps Ipsy to send me stuff that I love and that’s right for me.

Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Glow Shimmer Shadow & Highlighter –  : I am liking this highlight. It gives a nice shine but is not glittery or too overbearing, yet it’s buildable. Last month I mentioned that some sample sizes were really just too small…well this little guy is perfect for my highlight brush and perfect to throw in a makeup bag for the crazy amount of travel we have coming up!

Hanalei Aloe Soothing Gel : I was sceptical about this. The packaging said use on your face and body so I went full speed and applied it just like I would a moisturizer. I was actually surprised when it did not make me oily. It absorbed into the skin quickly and left me feeling moisturized, smooth and refreshed. This product is relatively affordable (well, I’d say medium priced), but possibly a must for the summer months. Between beach trips and weekends at the pool and lake, my skin can always use extra moisture and aloe. I’ll probably try this as a primer as well.

Ciaté London Mini Bamboo Bronzer – Star Island or Palm Island : I really like this bronzer. It’s pigmented and applies smoothly, but it’s not an overbearing shade. It’s perfect for a spring glow and blended out for an all over bronzed look with my normal kabuki brush. This product also has oil-controlling ingredients so it keeps me matte all day.

Hey Honey Bésame Mucho Lip Balm : Umm, I am living for this. I will definitely repurchase this in the future. It makes my lips so soft and smells like shea butter. There’s no bad taste and no sticky residue after applying. It is honestly one of the best lip balms I’ve ever had. Fingers crossed that I do NOT lose it! Random story: Our honeymoon was the first time Adam and I had gone out of the country together and we went to Punta Cana. Adam got into this whole routine of speaking spanish and he started singing a song that he made up randomly one day and the song went “Bésame mucho, baby. Bésame mucho, love.” Anyways, when I saw the name of this balm I had to tell Adam right away and he immediately broke out into the song.

Luxie Beauty Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush – 660 : When I first looked at this brush it reminded me of the Sigma F86 that is good for applying concealer under the eyes and around the nose. The Sigma brush is a little more dense than this one, though. If it doesn’t work out for liquid concealer under the eyes, it can definitely be useful for contouring, highlighting or setting my under eye.


*March Favorites*

My sincere apologies for not having a February Favorites post. I really didn’t get to try a lot of new products in February and so I decided to just wait until March when I knew I’d have a full post ready. A lot of these products are drugstore and I am more than okay with that. I love finding affordable items that work with my skin. The true test  is coming, though, when the summer temps start rolling in. Keeping my makeup in place and matte is what I strive for when it gets hot and humid.

I am SO happy it’s Wednesday already. Tomorrow is my Friday and then it’s off for a glamorous long weekend! This afternoon we have to take my car in to get an estimate for the hail damage from a couple weeks ago. Luckily insurance will cover a lot of it but still, what a pain in the a$$! The last time we had to get body work done (on Adam’s car back in November) it was such a hassle so I am just dreading this.

Wet n Wild Perfect Pout Gel Lip Liner & Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick : These are some of the greatest drugstore lip products I have ever tried. I don’t tend to spend a lot of money on lip products. They’re not something I use every day and honestly I lose them a lot. So when I found these, I fell in love. They apply smoothly and are so pigmented, and they stay on all day. AND they do not come off on drinks or napkins or anything. They really stay in place all day with little touch ups needed. I have been applying the gel liner all over my lips and then topping them with the Liquid Catsuit.

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation –  & Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer –  : Again, Wet N Wild is killing it right now. This face combo has been my go to for a few months now. At an incredibly affordable price, the foundation stays put all day, blends well for an all over flawless look, and does not cause me to get extra oily. As for the concealer, I use a setting powder and I’m good to go. No creases and it’s there to stay all day.

L’Oreal Paris Hydra Perfecte Loose Powder –  : I have been pretty loyal to the e.l.f. HD setting powder for some time now. But, I was ready to try something new. If I’m being honest, I went to Walmart to buy the Flower Beauty setting powder that I’ve heard great reviews of. However, they were out. I was looking around and stumbled upon this one. First of all, it smells soooo good. It’s finely milled and I use a beauty blender to set my face with it and I know I’m set for the day (pun intended).

e.l.f. Matte Magic Mist & Set : There’s really not much to say about this item. I am really enjoying this spray. At such an affordable price, I was surprised that it really does keep me matte all day long.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo : I think it’s hard to find a good shampoo. I personally need one that soaks up oil and that does not leave a white residue in my hair. I try to spray it on the night before and sleep on it to give it time to work. I received this product back in December and have grown to really like it. It does not have a bad smell and the white residue is gone by the time I wake up in the morning. It also doesn’t leave my hair tangly like a lot of dry shampoos do.

Clinique Happy : Let’s have a moment of silence for the early 2000’s please….I was feeling nostalgic and decided to revisit the ever so faithful Happy. It smells like carefree simple times and I just love it so much haha. It’s a great spring fragrance and I think it needs to be brought out of the vault every so often.

e.l.f. Poreless Face Primer : I am really liking this primer. I am noticing that a lot of my favorites this month are drugstore, and that make me so happy. E.l.f. Has several primers that I have used before but this one is really working in my favor. I had been struggling to stay matte throughout the day and this one really gets into my pores and keeps my foundation in place and oil free all day. The combo of face products that I have going on right now (most of which are listed here haha) are really just working like a charm and will probably be in rotation for a while, especially if they can keep me matte through the summer.

Luxie Rose Gold Blush Face Brush – 514 : This brush came in last month’s Ipsy bag and I really like it. It is technically a blush brush, but I have also been enjoying using it to contour. The synthetic bristles are soft and fluffy and blend product well.



March Ipsy Bag

I LOVEEE the March cosmetic bag. The blush color is perfect for spring and I may just be using it as a clutch here soon.


MintPear Collagen Serum : This product aims to keep your skin looking firm and youthful, while restoring collagen levels and reducing wrinkles. Sometimes I just have mixed feeling about sample products like this one. I think I may like it. It smells good, applies smoothly to my skin and doesn’t produce excess oil. I haven’t tried it as a primer yet but it says that it can be used as one. However, it’s such a small sample and simply not enough product to allow me to test if I truly like it. And…it’s a pricey one. I would hate to spend the money and end up not liking the product.

City Color Cosmetics Photo Chic Dark Spot Corrector : This formula is not as thick as I thought it would be. I had never used a color corrector out of a pan before so it was a new experience for me. I applied it using a bareMinerals Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush, which I love. City Color is a very affordable brand and I would definitely be interested in purchasing their stuff in the future. However, I did not love this color corrector. I didn’t think it did anything extra than my everyday concealer. I will continue to give this a try though using different applicators, primers, setting powders etc. to see if I can get a good result.

Skone Cosmetics Luxe Pro Blending Brush : This brush is great. I was actually in the market for a new brush like this. Not only do I use them for blending, but I really like them to apply a pop of color in my outer corner when I’m not going for a super sharp look. The bristles are synthetic and very soft, and none fell out when I washed it. Skone looks to be an affordable line and I will definitely consider purchasing some of their stuff in the future.

theBalm Cosmetics Bahama Mama : I am loving the shade. However, Ipsy, you’ve gotten me again. Some of the sample sizes are great but sometimes they are just so small. This bronzer is so pigmented and matte, but it is nearly impossible to get my kabuki into that little slot of product. I can use it as a contour but it would be gorgeous for an all-over bronze. The packaging says it can also be used as a shadow, which I may just give a try.

Doucce Freematic Eyeshadow – Marisa : I really like this color. It’s definitely for more of a nighttime/date night look. Its pigmented, applies smoothly, and blends out easily. I love a bold shimmer for date night so this was a great add to this month’s bag.


On another note, I’ve been absent lately. I just needed a little break. What is it that they say…love isn’t pretty and romantic, love is stumbling through life with your best friend..? Between two stressful jobs, a lease ending quicker than we can blink, and a damaged new car from getting caught in a terrifying hailstorm… Adam and I have just had sooo much going on. We’re also trying to take in some quality time and some race time in the mix of the crazy. But I am back! I hated not doing an unboxing video for this month’s glam bag but the timing was just not working out in my favor. And I really wanted to be able to review all of the products (even though I know this is a super late post!)

Adam and I had a 10 mile race Saturday morning that I will be recapping in tomorrow’s post. We then had so many errands and chores to run to get ourselves caught up on everything, since I’ll be out of town the next two weekends. Also, me and mom are jetsetting Friday and could not be more excited! The next few days are going to certainly inch by. We do have a busy week ahead though. 


February Ipsy Bag Reveal & Review

It’s hump day, Y’all! I feel like my Ipsy bag was so late this month and last week I just did not have time to go through it. But that’s okay, we’re here now. I did not peak at all about my bag this month (go me!) but I did see the actual bag on insta (not my favorite!).

Luna By Luna Cosmetics Highlighter – Calypso : This highlighter is very pigmented. It looks like a more warm tone but swatches very cool, which I normally don’t use for a highlight. It’s a baked highlighter so it’s very creamy and swatches so nicely.

NYX Professional Makeup Butter Lipstick – Lifeguard : I love a NYX lip product, especially the butter glosses and butter lipstick. This lip color is so pigmented and for such a vampy shade applies so smooth. It’s creamy and…buttery haha. These are such affordable products and great for collecting every shade. Like I said in my video, this color would have been perfect for a Valentine’s date but I am sure that I’ll be able to find a good place to wear it too.

True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask : Wow so I just looked up this product and a 1.7 fl oz jar at Barney’s costs $90! I haven’t tried it yet (hopefully I’ll get some time to pamper myself this weekend) but my first impression was that it didn’t smell very good!! According to the product’s description, it’s supposed to add glow, exfoliate and hydrate.

Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer : I love a matte bronzer, there’s no secret to that. But how disappointed was I when this sample was the size of my tube of lipstick?! It swatches great and the color seems perfect for me. Elizabeth Mott had affordable products which I would consider repurchasing, but I hope I can get a good

Luxie Rose Gold Blush Brush – 514 : I love this brush already. It’s synthetic bristles are soooo soft and will be great for blush, contour or highlight. I am pretty set with the Real Techniques brushes for blush and highlight so I’m thinking that I will probably use this one for contouring my cheeks and forehead.

Spring Is In The Air

TGIF!!!! Y’all know tomorrow’s race day so I’m super excited about that. I’m also looking forward to spending the whole weekend with my parents because it’s been awhile since we’d had a lot of time together with them. 

Spring has most definitely been in the air and that is getting me thinking about what’s on my spring wish list. I wore a tank top and sandals to a baby shower a few weekends ago and the warm weather just really slapped me right in the face. I am definitely not prepared to dive into the heat but here are a few things that I may scoop before we get too far into it: 


Gladiator Sandals : I do not think I have the “look” for the full, up the leg wrapped gladiator sandals. I have never had a pair but I just don’t think the fit my personality. Anyways, I am really liking these and I thought they could be a happy medium. The heel is a great height for me and I love a block heel.

Coola BB Cream : I mentioned this in one of my favorites late last summer and I am about to bring it back out. When I have a glow, this BB cream is simply amazing. It provides a tint so that my complexion looks flawless, but is not light coverage and feels light on the face. I cannot do full coverage for an all day look when it’s warm. This product contains SPF and does not cause me to break out.

Denim Skirt : I LOVE a denim skirt. I was so sad when they went out of style. They’ve recently remade their way back in to our lives and I couldn’t be happier. I’m probably going to try all the denim minis that I can get my hands on this year!

Sunscreen : To me, spring time means nicer days and more time out in the sun. I always try to wear a moisturizer and/or foundation that contains SPF, but if not, I try to wear sunscreen. Skincare is so important and especially when it comes to sun exposure. It’s such an easy thing to do and there’s really no reason to not wear it. This is one of my favorites and it does not irritate my skin or break me out.

Casual Flats : The light, flat sneaker is such a closet staple this spring. I personally am loving the trend. I prefer to be comfy over glamorous in the spring and summer and cute sneakers are a great way to be casual, but still have style.

Anti-Frizz Spray : With the warmer weather in the south comes a LOT of humidity. And my hair just can’t take it alone. I don’t love an anti-frizz serum, as my hair is fine and doesn’t take to a ton of product. But I love a light spray that just helps to tame my locks from the dreaded heat.

Matte Setting Spray : Specifically for those of us that are oily and live in the most humid of climates, a matte setting spray is crucial for the spring and summer months. If I’m wearing a full face in the heat, I’m going to get oily so this helps keep my makeup in place all day and keep me from shining brighter than the sun.

Pedicure : Suns out, toes out. Am I right? As soon as my toes begin to see a peak of spring, they are screaming for pastels and bright colors.
